For a traveler the luxuries and comforts of the journey hardly matters because his soul is in a continuous search of the nature’s splendor, he thrives to quench his thirst for eternal bliss. There are many such quaint little places in the Himalayas which remain untapped by common tourists. Without any modern amenities these hidden jewels are true Soul Safar destinations.
Perched at a height of 7500 ft above the sea level in the north central Mandhol village of Jubbal Tehsil in Himachal Pradesh, lies one such pristine beauty – Shelapani.

How to reach
After you reach Shimla keep on the NH-22(Kufri road)route upto Theog (approx 30kms). From Theog take the right hand road till Kharapathar(46kms). As you reach Kharapathar turn left and drive to Mandhol village (13kms) from where the last lap of the journey to Shelapani  (1.5kms) is a thrilling one through dense jungle path.

History of Shelapani 
According to a legend Shelapani or”cold water”got its name after natural spring water flowing through this place which was discovered in 1910.

The marvellous landscape around Shelapani is ideal for hiking, camping, cycling, horse riding and skiing. You can also indulge in fishing in the Pabbar River. With a very few shops and restaurants and meager luxurious comfort, Shelapani is a solace to those who seek for peace in natural ambiance far away from the city crowd. You can simply spend some restful days in Shelapani strolling in the deserted hilly paths and enjoying the beauty of the Himalayas.

Outside the Mandhol village amidst 240 sq kms of dense reserved forests is situated Dwarika Residency Hill Resort, the ultimate name in comfort and hospitality. With absolute tranquility and beautiful natural surroundings, this resort is worth staying.
From here you can visit the Hatkoti temple, Chansal Pass, Giriganga river, the beautiful Chirgaon river valley, Pabbar valley,Kuppar valley. For those who want to relax, this place is ideal for just soaking in the cool, enrapturing beauty and spending a couple of days in the salubrious environment.

Further you can extend your trip by staying a couple of days at Kharapathar and either you can move north towards the Kinnaur valley or while returning back to Shimla take a small detour and visit the charming destinations of Mashobra and Naldehra.
