Sometimes a sudden break from the monotonous life is very much needed to rejuvenate our body and mind and renew our souls. As we plan to go for a short trip then comes the most crucial challenge – Where to go. Obviously we don’t want to travel to the crowded tourist places where we will get more drained out and at the same time we cannot travel to a faraway place just having a couple of days in our hand. In such a situation Soul Safar suggests you to drive to Nathuakhan, a beautiful, small village in the Ramgarh block of the Nainital district in Uttarakhand. Nestled at a height of 1940 mts above the sea level in the Kumaon hills,Nathuakhan is just 20 kms from Mukteshwar and approximately 45 kms from Nainital. It is a serene destination for the travelers who seek an absolute silence.
The wide lush green valley laden with forests of oak, rhododendron, deodar and pine with distant mountains and fruit orchards all around at Nathuakhan will soothe your tired soul. The eerie silence prevailing all around the place with the melodies of the birds, gurgling of the brooks and whistling of the cool breeze will surely lead you to a blissful ecstasy.

History

This village has been named Nathuakhan after a prominent Muslim figure who used to live along the main road of the village.  It is also said to be the birthplace of several freedom fighters, which made this place an important centre for National Freedom Struggle Movement.
